Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. Two years later she became a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief Congress correspondent in 1988. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news program Meet the Press as a host and panelist. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a range of interesting stories such as arm control, budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell traveled extensively with the president Reagan to meetings with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world leaders.
